To support the next phase of their digital transformation journey, they are seeking an experienced IT Manager to take full ownership of their IT function, leading a small team and working closely with the wider business to align technology operations with strategic goals.

Role Overview:

The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing all IT-related functions across the organisation, ensuring systems are efficient, secure, and support business growth. The successful candidate will manage infrastructure and application environments, lead on new technology implementations, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive and solutions-oriented IT professional with a blend of strategic thinking and strong technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations across multiple sites, ensuring high levels of uptime and support responsiveness.
  • Lead the ongoing development, security, and performance of the IT infrastructure (networks, servers, applications, storage, endpoints).
  • Provide direct line management and mentorship to the internal IT support team.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party IT vendors and managed service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and digital transformation through technology.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, standards, and disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
  • Manage IT budgets, including procurement and licensing, ensuring value for investment.
  • Lead and support key projects, including system upgrades, ERP enhancements, cloud adoption, and cybersecurity improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal information security protocols.
  • Provide end-user training and support for internal systems, encouraging best practice and adoption.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in an IT management or senior systems role within a manufacturing or fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across core Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Office 365, Active Directory, Exchange, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with networking (LAN/WAN), firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (knowledge of EFACS, Sage, or similar is advantageous).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience managing IT projects from concept to delivery.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and vendor management skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and automation tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and ITIL principles.
