VANRATH are delighted to be supporting a highly respected public sector organisation in the appointment of an Investigating Officer on an initial interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigator, auditor, complaints professional, regulatory specialist, governance officer or compliance professional to join a team responsible for examining complex complaints and concerns, conducting impartial investigations, and producing evidence-based findings and recommendations.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of investigations, gathering and analysing information from multiple sources, interviewing relevant parties, and producing detailed written reports. The role requires a balanced and objective approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of complex investigations from initial assessment through to conclusion.
  • Gathering, reviewing and analysing evidence from a variety of sources.
  • Conducting interviews and obtaining information from complainants, witnesses and stakeholders.
  • Identifying key issues and determining appropriate lines of enquiry.
  • Interpreting legislation, policies, procedures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Preparing detailed reports, findings and recommendations.
  • Monitoring implementation of recommendations where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and case management information.
  • Building positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience collecting, reviewing and analysing complex information to reach evidence-based conclusions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interpreting legislation, regulations, policies or procedural requirements.
  • Excellent report writing and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with sensitive issues professionally and objectively.
  • Experience conducting interviews or information-gathering discussions as part of investigations, audits, complaints handling, compliance, governance or regulatory work.
