We are delighted to be partnering with a leading FMCG and supply chain organisation to recruit an HR Officer for a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large, people-focused business operating within a fast-paced, multi-site environment. This role is particularly well suited to an experienced Senior HR Administrator or HR Coordinator who is ready to take the next step into an HR Officer position, as well as established HR Officers seeking strong operational exposure.
Please note: This role requires onsite presence four days per week, with regular travel between sites across the Belfast area.
The Role
Reporting to the HR Business Partner team, the HR Officer will provide day-to-day HR support across multiple operational sites, gaining exposure to the full employee lifecycle and a wide range of HR activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment support, onboarding, probation, offboarding, retirement, HR KPIs, payroll queries and employee changes.
- Supporting managers with employee relations processes, including investigations, disciplinary meetings and hearings (with guidance and support from senior HR colleagues).
- Advising managers and employees on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent and fair application.
- Supporting site-level engagement, communications and culture initiatives.
- Assisting with HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinating and supporting training activity, including training needs analysis, scheduling and acting as a key point of contact for learning and development.
- Supporting performance management, absence management and engagement initiatives.
- Acting as a trusted first point of contact for employees, providing guidance and support.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring compliance with HR data standards.
- Building strong working relationships across operational and management teams.
About You
You will be an organised, proactive and people-focused HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-moving, operational environment.
Essential requirements:
- Third-level qualification in HR, Business or a related discipline.
- CIPD qualification (or working towards).
- Experience in an HR administration, HR coordinator or HR officer role.
- Exposure to employee relations processes and HR operations.
- Good working knowledge of employment legislation and the confidence to escalate and advise appropriately.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Full driving licence and flexibility to travel between sites.
- Flexibility with working hours, including occasional attendance at night-shift meetings.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a unionised environment.
- Background in FMCG, manufacturing, logistics or retail.
