VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for a Handyperson for 3 months initially with the possibility of extension. You will predominantly be based in their Newtownabbey site.

Responsibilities

  • To carry out general repair works externally to housing stock as required.
  • External repairs include (but are not limited to):
    • Carrying out external work to include ground works, concrete repairs and installation, flagging and garden maintenance.
    • Erection and repair of fences and gates.
    • Excavating and laying pipes, clearing of blockages and repairs to foul and storm water drainage systems and power washing.
    • Gutter, down pipe and soil pipe repairs.
    • Minor Roof/patch repairs.
    • Assisting with erecting scaffolding.
    • General handyman duties and any similar duties to above.
  • To carry out internal repair works to housing stock as required.
  • Internal repair works include (but are not limited to):
    • Minor plastering repairs to include boarding.
    • Minor plumbing, joinery and painting work.
    • Fitting of level access shower trays and drainage.
    • Levelling compound to floor & concrete floor repairs.
    • Floor / wall tiling and non-slip flooring in small areas.
    • Carrying out house clear outs.
    • General handyman duties and any similar duties to above.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate previous experience in a similar role.
  • Practical experience of basic maintenance in any of the following areas: building, joinery, mechanical/electrical maintenance, grounds maintenance.
  • Understanding of basic repair/maintenance issues.
  • Current UK Driving License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and prioritise workloads.

Remuneration

c£26,403 per annum, plus discount benefits. A form of transport will be provided to enable the post holder to carry out their duties.
