Field Service Engineer

Location: Greater Belfast Area

Salary: £40,000

Hours: Full-Time | Monday-Friday + Rotational Saturday Mornings

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working independently. You'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a range of heavy plant and specialist equipment, ensuring customers receive a reliable and responsive service.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will carry out planned maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs both on customer sites and within the workshop when required. Working across a wide variety of equipment, you'll utilise your mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic expertise to minimise downtime and ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and repair heavy plant and equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections
  • Attend customer sites to respond to breakdowns and service requirements
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers
  • Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Support workshop activities when required
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times

The Person

Applicants should possess:

  • Previous experience repairing plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs, materials handling equipment, powered access equipment, or similar
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrics, and diesel-powered equipment
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
