We are recruiting on behalf of a leading international power generation business delivering low-carbon energy and battery storage solutions across the UK and global markets. Operating across sectors including industrial, utilities, public infrastructure, and renewable energy, this organisation specialises in innovative power generation technologies using fuel sources such as biogas, natural gas, and landfill gas.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer - Rebuild to join their engineering team supporting engine maintenance, overhaul, and after-sales operations across customer sites nationwide.

The Role: As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing gas and diesel engine installations across a wide range of industrial and energy generation sites throughout the UK. Working both independently and alongside wider engineering teams, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities, diagnose faults, and support engine rebuild and overhaul projects to ensure maximum reliability and performance. This role offers a varied and technically challenging workload with excellent opportunities for training, development, and long-term progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair work on gas and diesel engine installations
  • Support engine rebuilds, overhauls, and associated mechanical/electrical activities
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective first-time fixes where possible
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown response
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues both onsite and remotely
  • Maintain ancillary equipment associated with power generation systems
  • Plan required resources and parts for repair and maintenance activities
  • Liaise with internal service teams, parts departments, contractors, and customers
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer guidelines and service schedules
  • Support delivery of after-sales service contracts across multiple sites

The Person: We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualifications such as ONC, NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds, or equivalent
  • Experience as a time-served engineer or technician within industrial, power generation, plant, HGV, heavy equipment, or engine-related environments
  • Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines
  • Experience carrying out maintenance, fault finding, overhaul, or rebuild work
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A flexible and customer-focused approach to work

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This role will also involve weekend work when required, participation in a 24-hour callout rota, and occasional out-of-hours support.
