VANRATH are recruiting a Facilities Assistant/Caretaker to be responsible for the day-to-day operations: security (as keyholder), safety, servicing of bookings, cleanliness and general maintenance of Client facility/facilities. This will initially be a 4 month contract with possible extension. Remuneration: c£26,403 per annum, alongside holiday entitlement.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the facility/facilities as required including checking that the premises, associated out buildings and perimeters are properly secured, setting the intruder alarm system as required.
- Monitor electronic booking system, set up and prepare rooms for bookings, liaise with the user group when on site and respond to requests.
- Act as the designated key holder for the facility/facilities, be responsible for facilitating on-site visitors or contractors, and be on stand-by to attend to rapid response and emergency call‑outs as required.
- Ensure the effective operation of various systems within the building such as fire alarms, intruder alarm, CCTV, heating, lighting, plumbing and audio‑visual systems, liaising with the relevant staff within Council in the event of malfunctions.
- Report any internal defects or maintenance issues in a timely fashion and in accordance with Council policy and procedures.
- Carry out general cleaning duties to include cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying litter bins, polishing and dusting to include toilets and associated facilities and fixtures and fittings, using where appropriate the necessary powered equipment.
- Order, maintain and ensure safe storage of cleaning materials, waste and recyclable material and consumable products in line with Council policies and procedures.
- Prepare and service light refreshments to various functions which may take place.
- Prepare and organise for ceremonial occasions providing assistance to Mayor or Councillors, as required.
The Ideal Person
- Applicants must have a minimum of Entry Level Essential Skills qualifications in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy.
- Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years' experience to include:
- Previous experience in a Caretaking/security role
- Use of commercial cleaning equipment
- Dealing with members of the public, providing excellent customer service
- A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle or have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
