We are seeking a driven Energy Trading Analyst to support and enhance front office trading activities. This role focuses on analysing GB power market opportunities, contributing to trading strategy, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to refine algorithmic models. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising portfolio performance, identifying revenue opportunities, and ensuring effective day-to-day trading execution within a fast-paced and growing environment. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the Belfast office (Tuesday as the core day), with some flexibility in working hours to align with market activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time market insight to support automated trading and portfolio management
  • Identify and evaluate trading opportunities to drive revenue growth
  • Analyse market trends and collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance trading models
  • Monitor performance and contribute to reporting and strategy discussions
  • Support collateral and risk position management across the trading function
  • Communicate market insights and trading rationale clearly across teams
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the Head of Trading Operations

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline with strong numerical capability
  • Experience within the GB energy market, ideally in a front office environment
  • Knowledge of short-term power trading
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Desirable:

  • Experience working alongside product or data engineering teams
  • Exposure to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)

Additional Information

Hybrid working with regular presence in Belfast. Flexibility required to accommodate market schedules and occasional out-of-hours activity.
