Reporting to the Head of Offers & Claims and working alongside two claims team managers, the post holder will be primarily responsible for the management of a team of staff tasked with the auditing of claims for payment of financial support offered to Invest NI's clients under various support packages. As a fully qualified accountant, the post holder will provide guidance and expert advice on auditing and other matters to internal and external stakeholders, building long-term, effective working relationships throughout the organisation. The role will provide significant opportunities for the post holder to participate in and contribute to team and wider organisational continuous improvement projects. The post holder will be part of the wider Invest NI team assisting Northern Ireland businesses to grow, compete internationally, and to attract new foreign direct investment to NI whilst making a significant contribution to the protection of public monies. This is a varied role which offers candidates the opportunity to be involved in stimulating work sectors while retaining an excellent work/life balance.

About you:

  • A fully qualified Accountant with a minimum of 2 years PQE, having completed the professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the bodies listed below:
  • a) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
  • b) Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • c) Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
  • d) Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
  • e) Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland
  • f) Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland
  • Experience in auditing financial transactions using best practice audit procedures and ensuring the maintenance of clear audit trails.
  • Experience in reviewing the audit work of staff to ensure best practice audit and corporate governance procedures have been followed and that sufficient and appropriate audit evidence has been obtained.
  • Experience in the development of corporate governance procedures to ensure effective control and best practice.
  • Experience of managing and delivering process improvements while adhering to high standards of corporate governance.
  • Experience of providing advice, based on detailed analysis to facilitate evidenced-based decision making by senior level stakeholders.
  • The ability to proactively manage and prioritise work to deliver a range of quality outputs against challenging deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience of liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex financial matters.
  • What you'll do:

    • To manage a team of Claims Inspectors responsible for the effective auditing and processing of claims for financial assistance.
    • To assist in the development and implementation of best practice audit, risk and corporate governance practices.
    • To engage with key stakeholders, clients and internal staff, providing high quality advice and guidance in relation to the auditing and processing of claims for financial assistance.
    • To assist in identifying areas for developing and improving systems and processes to deliver efficiencies and enhance corporate governance.
    • To lead and/or participate in project teams responsible for the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
    • To liaise with Internal Audit, the Northern Ireland Audit Office and other external regulatory bodies as required.
    • To assist in the delivery of high quality, accurate and timely financial information and reports to meet the needs of internal users.
