We're looking for an Azure Data Platform Engineer to join a collaborative and growing technology team. This is an opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data platforms, supporting business-critical systems while contributing to the ongoing development and optimisation of data infrastructure. You'll work closely with software engineers, infrastructure specialists, and stakeholders across the business, playing a key role in ensuring data platforms remain secure, reliable, scalable, and high performing. The role offers a blend of database administration, data engineering, performance optimisation, and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise cloud-hosted databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision making through SQL development and data investigation.
  • Maintain and improve database infrastructure, backup and recovery processes, and system monitoring.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance scalability and efficiency.
  • Develop and support data integration solutions and data movement processes across multiple systems.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to provide expertise, resolve issues, and drive best practices in data management and governance.

Essential Criteria

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience working with relational databases in cloud environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including query development and performance optimisation.
  • Experience managing and supporting complex database environments.
  • Understanding of database design, indexing, execution plans, locking, and concurrency.
  • Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting production systems.
  • Knowledge of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, or data pipelines.
  • Experience supporting applications that interact with databases through ORM frameworks.
