The Role
VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and rapidly growing independent accountancy practice in Bangor to recruit a Part-Time Senior Accounts Professional.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional who is looking for a flexible, part-time position within a genuinely supportive and close-knit team.
While a full professional qualification would be welcomed, our client is equally happy to consider a highly experienced part-qualified accountant or senior accounts technician who has strong practice experience and, importantly, the ability to independently review accounts.
The successful candidate will join a growing business where culture is incredibly important, with a friendly, family-like environment and a strong focus on supporting its people.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and review year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of SME clients.
- Independently review accounts prepared by colleagues, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Identify and resolve accounting issues before accounts are finalised.
- Prepare accounts from incomplete or client-generated records where required.
- Manage a portfolio of clients and build strong, long-term relationships.
- Deal with client queries and provide practical accounting advice.
- Support colleagues with more technical accounting matters.
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice.

Requirements
- Qualified, part-qualified or an experienced AAT/IATI-level accounts professional.
- Strong previous experience within an accountancy practice.
- Significant experience preparing accounts for a portfolio of SME clients.
Proven ability to review accounts independently is essential.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
- Confident dealing directly with clients.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a close-knit team.
- A professional qualification is desirable but is not essential for the right candidate.
- Experience supervising or reviewing the work of others would be advantageous.
