VANRATH is working with a leading global logistics and shipping provider on the appointment of a Transport Co-Ordinator for their NI branch. The business specialises in overnight express groupage and full load freight to and from the island of Ireland, alongside European trailer services, freight forwarding, warehousing, ocean and air freight.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will co-ordinate the day to day movement of freight, keeping documentation accurate, transit times met and customers well looked after. It will suit someone from a groupage or freight background who enjoys a busy, deadline driven desk.

Permanent, full time, 40 hours per week

Salary negotiable depending on experience + 10% bonus

The Role

  • Plan, direct and control UK import activity day to day, booking onto the freight system and meeting customs and transit requirements
  • Prepare export documentation and final manifests, including Dangerous Goods Notifications for onforwarding to shipping lines
  • Cost and invoice files prior to export, delivery or release
  • Brief transport companies with the information needed to meet collection and delivery requirements
  • Prepare key performance indicators and carry out proof of delivery scanning
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, understanding their business and shipping needs
  • Give early warning to the manager on any issue that could affect deadlines
  • Prepare logistics documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain and update internal systems to support the movement of goods
  • Promote company image, procedures and standards

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 12 months' experience in a groupage shipping or transport environment preferable
  • Experience of Dangerous Goods documentation and hazardous consignments beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge of exports and customs procedures beneficial but not essential
  • Able to plan and work to tight deadlines
  • Computer literate
  • Proactive, with excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Full clean driving licence and own transport essential
