Are you looking for a Project Engineer role? VANRATH are recruiting a Project Engineer to work on Building projects encompassing extensions, alterations and reconfiguration works, based in Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Remuneration: £35,000 - £40,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an Engineer looking to develop their career in the building construction industry. The successful person will be part of a high performing team working on a range of building projects. The Project Engineer will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of strategically important projects within a live operational environment. These projects include building extensions, alterations, reconfigurations, repairs and upgrades.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver front-line management and supervision of works in line with the Project Managers direction
- Support the Project Manager with the logistical, technical and commercial management of the project(s) to meet the overall business objectives
- Support the Projects Team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of projects to achieve desired business outcomes
- Responsible as the day-to-day point of contact for contractors and facilitate communication between departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors. This will involve daily and weekly briefings with accurate record keeping. These briefings will include formation and communication of lookahead schedules to stakeholders
- Contribute and work to the development and maintenance of a culture of excellent health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental performance achievable.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect operations through the project/programme lifecycle
- Work collaboratively with the Projects Team to deliver the assigned project to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements, leading to the successful handover of assigned projects to the Operational Departments
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role, including all standards and code compliance, and required planning permissions
- Positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with the project
- Play an active part in lessons identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement
- Troubleshooting in conjunction with departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors
- Ensure that all Statutory and Company regulations regarding health and safety, fire and security are followed
- Uphold security policies and procedures, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data. Any intellectual property created in the course of employment shall remain the property of the company
- Understand the company vision and pro-actively engage in its values: Integrity, Inclusiveness, Leadership, Teamwork, Safety & Security, Communication and Positivity, through the Performance and Development Programme.
The Ideal Person:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering / building / construction discipline
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the construction industry working in a similar role
- Experience of report writing / works lookahead programmes
- Track record working within a Quality Control / Quality Assurance system
- Good experience co-ordinating and supervising contractors / direct labour & trades
- Have the ability to problem solve, plan & maintain direction
- Team player able to communicate effectively
- Excellent time management
- Good analytical skills
- Decision making ability and judgement of when to seek senior direction
- Familiar with software packages such as MS Word, Outlook & Excel
- Working knowledge of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015)
- Good Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
- Sound knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and ICT systems
- Working knowledge of industry software such as CAD, BIM, MS Project etc.
- CSCS, CSR, SafePass
- Full, clean current driving licence
- Able to successfully pass company preemployment medical including alcohol and drugs screening and an eyesight examination
- Able to satisfy security checks, renewable on a regular basis, against records of the police and security agencies in accordance with current policy
