VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for an Electrical Service Engineer to join an established engineering business based in Lisburn.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served Electrical Engineer or Technician looking to develop their career, working on industrial generators, electrical control systems and associated equipment.
You’ll be joining a specialist Service team where you’ll have the opportunity to work independently, solve complex technical issues and build strong relationships with customers.
The Role
Reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.
The role will involve a combination of routine servicing, electrical fault finding, control system work, breakdown response and supporting the installation and upgrade of generator systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and servicing on diesel generators and associated equipment.
- Diagnose electrical faults and complete reactive maintenance on customer installations.
- Carry out electrical fault finding to component level within control panels.
- Complete initial fault diagnosis both locally and remotely.
- Interrogate and programme generator controllers, including Com Ap and Deep Sea systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and design drawings.
- Assist with the design, installation and upgrading of generator electrical control systems.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer specifications and service schedules.
- Complete accurate service reports, job sheets and timesheets.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant IET standards.
- Participate in the company’s on‑call rota and provide support for breakdowns.
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide a professional service at all times.
About You
We’re looking for a technically strong Electrical Engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and working directly with customers.
You’ll ideally have
- ONC/HNC, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Time-served Electrical Engineering/Technician background.
- At least 3 years’ relevant industrial electrical experience.
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience, particularly within industrial equipment.
- Experience working on electrical control panels to component level.
- Ability to interrogate and programme generator control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full current driving licence.
