An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a globally recognised manufacturer at its Campsie facility. As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll play a leading role in the development of innovative machinery, taking ownership of major design projects from concept through to production. Working closely with the Product Manager and cross-functional teams, you'll drive new product development, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the future direction of an expanding product portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects within a business renowned for engineering excellence and continuous innovation.

The Role

  • Deliver high-quality engineering solutions while supporting the development of both new and existing products.
  • Lead the design and development of new products and major product improvements.
  • Take ownership of engineering projects from concept through to production release.
  • Produce and review detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ensure products meet performance, reliability, safety and legislative requirements.
  • Drive design-for-manufacture principles to improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Lead prototype development, testing and product validation activities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and Supply Chain to ensure successful product launches.
  • Investigate technical issues, customer feedback and warranty concerns, implementing robust engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior members of the engineering team.
  • Support aftersales and dealer networks with complex technical queries.
  • Research emerging technologies and competitor products to ensure continued innovation across the product range.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.

About You

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in mechanical product design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency using 3D CAD software (Creo preferred, although other leading CAD packages will be considered).
  • Experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical design principles, fabrication, hydraulics and machine systems.
  • Experience leading engineering projects from concept through production.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to influence and support cross-functional teams.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be advantageous.
