About the Employer

One of the UK’s largest food distributors, operating five strategically located depots with a turnover of £275m. We specialise in ambient, chilled and frozen products, serving a broad customer base with a trusted multi‑temperature fleet.

About You

  • Proven transport management experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or distribution
  • Holder of a CPC in Transport Management (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of DVSA regulations, operator licences and health & safety compliance
  • Track record in cost control, route optimisation and operational efficiency
  • Leadership experience managing and developing drivers and logistics teams
  • Proficient with TMS and fleet tracking software
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Desirable: NEBOSH or IOSH certification, telematics and logistics automation experience

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage daily transport operations for timely, cost‑effective deliveries
  • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation and health & safety standards
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle records, driver hours and infringements
  • Control operational costs, including diesel usage and fleet efficiency
  • Plan routes and optimise delivery schedules
  • Manage transport budgets, invoices and purchase orders
  • Provide training and development to foster a safety‑first culture
  • Drive continuous improvement across the department
  • Collaborate with insurance and safety teams for regulatory compliance and incident management
