The Role

As Senior Lead Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing all testing and inspection activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. You will lead a team of technicians, coordinate testing programmes, support project delivery teams, and act as a key point of contact for clients throughout commissioning and handover stages. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Testing & Inspection Technicians.
  • Oversee testing, inspection, and commissioning activities both in-house and on-site.
  • Coordinate and conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Carry out electrical fault finding and support the resolution of technical issues.
  • Work closely with project and contracts teams to ensure testing activities align with project schedules.
  • Liaise directly with clients, providing technical support and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all testing documentation, reports, and records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across testing and commissioning operations.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
  • Drive high standards of workmanship, accountability, and technical excellence across the team.

The Person

We are keen to speak with candidates who possess:

  • Strong background in electrical testing, inspection, commissioning, and fault diagnosis.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring technical teams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and digital reporting systems.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience within utilities, water treatment, manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Exposure to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Experience using digital project management and document control platforms.
  • Knowledge of commissioning procedures and quality management systems.
