An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business delivering innovative projects across the utilities, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of technically challenging projects, supporting the design and delivery of electrical systems from concept through to installation and commissioning.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in developing high-quality electrical solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
The RoleAs an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems, control panels, motor control centres (MCCs), switchgear, and associated infrastructure for a range of engineering projects. You will collaborate with project teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors to ensure designs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Produce electrical designs from initial concept through to detailed design and project delivery.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and equipment schedules.
- Design power distribution, motor control, and automation systems.
- Specify electrical equipment including motors, instrumentation, control systems, switchgear, and associated components.
- Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, including installation and commissioning activities.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
- Attend design reviews, technical meetings, and project progress meetings where required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.
- Maintain compliance with quality, environmental, and health & safety requirements.
Applicants should possess:
- Qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Experience producing electrical design documentation and schematics.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software.
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to engineering design.
- Previous experience within industrial, utilities, manufacturing, process, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of control systems, automation, MCCs, and switchgear.
- Experience supporting projects through installation and commissioning phases.
- Exposure to power distribution and industrial electrical systems.
