The role sits within the Business Support division under the Corporate & Support Services Directorate, reporting to the HR Manager (Policy and Projects). About you
- Hold a degree in any discipline with at least 2 years’ experience in HR or Workforce Planning, or 4 years’ relevant experience
- Full, current CIPD membership (Associate or Chartered)
- Demonstrable experience advising managers on HR matters, including employee relations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to work effectively with Line Managers and Trade Unions
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate organisational change
What you’ll do
- Develop and implement workforce plans aligned with organisational objectives to ensure staffing needs are met now and in the future
- Provide expert advice to managers on all HR and employee relations issues, including recruitment, attendance management, and performance
- Lead on the management of workforce data, analysing trends to inform strategic decision‑making
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop HR policies and support their effective implementation
- Support the Council’s recruitment process, including chairing panels and ensuring compliance with legislation
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives designed to improve workforce effectiveness and employee engagement
- Promote best practice in workforce planning and develop proactive strategies to address future staffing challenges
