VANRATH are excited to be working closely to support with the role of a Waste Resource Management Chargehand for a well established client within the local authority. This is initially a 3 month assignment with possibility of extension.

Responsible to the Waste & Resource Management Supervisors for the day-to-day supervision of the Household Recycling Centres. To ensure the services are carried out in accordance with the Quality Standards set by the Council. Assist the Waste & Resource Management Supervisors to manage human, physical, and financial resources to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Provide leadership, monitoring of performance, continuous service improvement and quality of service delivery in compliance with current legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of the day-to-day operation of the Household Recycling Centres including the deployment, supervision, and control of Waste & Resource Management operatives to ensure the delivery of a quality service and in line with the section Business plan.
  • Assist in ensuring that Household Recycling Centres are clean, customer focussed, open and closed at designated times, fully serviced by in-house and out-sourced contractors and remain legally compliant at all times.
  • Assist in ensuring that staff are provided with the necessary plant, equipment and materials to carry out their work effectively and efficiently, working closely with the Fleet Management to ensure all vehicles and plant are serviced and maintained.
  • Monitor and maintain high quality standards of recyclable material collected at the Household Recycling Centres.
  • Assist in the maintaining of records and report information relating to the performance of the Household Recycling Centres, Fleet, Plant and Equipment.
Ideal Candidate
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) to include English and Maths or equivalent (Consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualifications but who can demonstrate a minimum of 2 years’ experience).
  • A minimum of 1 years’ relevant supervisory experience e.g. refuse collection, street cleansing, household recycling centre.
  • Hold a full current driving license (valid in the UK) and have access to a car.
  • Be willing to undertake an AccessNI background check.
  • Recognised First Aid Qualification.
  • Recognised fire warden training.
  • Certificate of Technical Competence in Recycling Centre operations.
  • Experience addressing employee relations issues in a unionised environment.
  • Current knowledge of waste and cleansing legislation.

Remuneration £15.31 - £17.68 per hour, plus pension, holiday pay and discount benefits.
