VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large organisation with the recruitment of a Theatre Technician to join their team based in Antrim.

About your next employer

You’ll be joining a progressive local authority within its Arts & Culture service, helping to deliver a diverse programme of theatre productions, concerts, conferences and community events.

About you

  • Degree in Technical Theatre (or equivalent) or significant industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a theatre or live production environment
  • Strong knowledge of theatre Health & Safety legislation
  • Experience in at least one specialist area such as lighting, sound, stage management or audiovisual production
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to supervise casual staff and work collaboratively with visiting companies
  • Flexible approach with availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Full driving licence (or access to suitable transport)

What you’ll do

  • Deliver the technical requirements for theatre productions, conferences and live events
  • Operate and supervise lighting, sound, staging and audiovisual equipment
  • Act as the technical point of contact for visiting production companies and performers
  • Lead show get-ins, rehearsals, performances and load-outs
  • Coordinate casual technicians and freelance crew
  • Carry out technical inductions and health & safety briefings
  • Undertake equipment maintenance, inspections and inventory management
  • Support risk assessments, safe systems of work and statutory compliance
  • Assist with procurement, budgeting and technical planning
  • Work across multiple venues to ensure high-quality technical delivery and customer service
