Salary: £13.26 - £14.28 per annum
This is a 3‑month contract initially, with the possibility of extension. Remuneration: £13.26 per hour, alongside holiday entitlement; 37 hours per week, 4 out of 7 days shift pattern.
Responsibilities:
- Collect approved domestic and commercial refuse and recyclable containers, ensuring all containers are returned to a safe position.
- Assist the driver whilst reversing where appropriate.
- Report to the vehicle driver any actual or potential mechanical or electrical faults, or damage to the vehicle.
- When carrying out street cleansing duties, cleanse footpaths and adjacent gutters, collect litter on public highways and other specified areas within the Borough to the quality standards by means of manual sweeping, shovelling, litter picking, pedestrian operated suction sweepers and other appropriate methods.
- Empty litter bins and waste receptacles, weed footpaths and gutters, clean street furniture, remove fly‑tipped and fly‑posted materials, remove animal carcasses and any other cleansing or emergency works.
Ideal Person:
- Minimum of 6 months previous relevant work experience in a waste environment.
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures including manual handling and assisting driver whilst reversing.
- Knowledge of waste collection/disposal and recycling issues.
- Traffic management experience.
- Experience working within a team environment.
- Experience working within a customer service environment dealing with complaints and queries from the general public.
