Lead quality engineering across the platforms shaping the next chapter of Vanquis. We've invested heavily in modernising our technology landscape. The opportunity now is to strengthen quality engineering across Salesforce, MuleSoft integrations and enterprise data flows, giving our teams clear, risk-based evidence that every change is ready.

As a Test Manager, you'll lead test strategy, portfolio planning, quality governance, automation and people leadership across the testing practice. You'll protect customer, colleague and regulatory outcomes while helping our teams deliver change with confidence.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Own and evolve the Quality Engineering strategy, standards, controls, quality gates and metrics.
  • Lead portfolio-level planning across test demand, resources, environments, data and dependencies.
  • Set the automation roadmap for Copado Robotic Testing, API, integration and data assurance.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations through governance, release-readiness and risk forums.
  • Partner across product, engineering, architecture, delivery, operations, risk and business teams.
  • Line manage, coach and develop Test Leads and Test Engineers.

Why this role matters:

Technology & Change is a strategic priority for Vanquis. This role is central to release confidence and production quality, ensuring risks are identified, evidenced and managed before change reaches customers and colleagues.

Our Quality Engineering approach:

  • Risk-based quality: Coverage, evidence and controls are proportionate to customer impact, regulatory exposure and business criticality.
  • Automation with purpose: Reusable automation targets valuable journeys and is integrated into CI/CD quality gates.
  • Quality built in: Testing starts early, with traceability and ownership from requirements through to release.
  • Evidence-led decisions: Quality data is translated into clear business impact, recommendations and residual risk.
  • Continuous improvement: People, process, environments, data, observability and governance evolve through measurable outcomes.

Technology and testing stack:

  • Salesforce: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Financial Services Cloud.
  • Copado Robotic Testing and Copado pipelines.
  • MuleSoft 4, Anypoint Platform and API Manager.
  • Azure DevOps, CI/CD quality gates and work-item traceability.
  • REST, SOAP, Platform Events and event-driven integrations.
  • API, integration, end-to-end and automated regression testing.
  • Enterprise data flows, JSON, XML, CSV and DataWeave.
  • MUnit, SOQL, Salesforce CLI, logs and distributed tracing.
  • CloudHub or Runtime Fabric environments.
  • Test data, environment controls, evidence capture and quality metrics.

Essential experience:

  • Substantial quality engineering and test management experience across complex, integrated enterprise delivery.
  • Proven people leadership, including coaching, development, performance management, recruitment and workforce planning.
  • Expertise in risk-based test strategy, planning, estimation, governance, defect management, quality metrics and release-readiness decision support.
  • Strong Salesforce, MuleSoft, API, integration and data-testing experience, with automated regression delivered through CI/CD.
  • Advanced experience of Copado Robotic Testing or equivalent modern test-automation tooling, including reusable frameworks and quality gates.
  • Confident senior-stakeholder communication, with the ability to turn technical evidence into business impact, trade-offs and clear decisions.
  • Awareness of regulated environments, UK GDPR, secure data handling, audit evidence and ITIL/ITSM change controls.

Useful, but not essential:

  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager or another relevant senior test-management qualification.
  • Copado Robotic Testing accreditation or equivalent demonstrable implementation experience.
  • Relevant Salesforce or MuleSoft certification, or strong practical experience across their platforms.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, consumer lending, cards or retail banking technology.
  • Experience leading managers, Test Leads or multidisciplinary test teams across a portfolio of concurrent change.

Career development:

You'll have the opportunity to shape the Quality Engineering practice, influence standards across major technology platforms, lead improvement initiatives and develop your leadership impact across a broad portfolio of change.

How to prepare for a job interview at Vanquis Bank

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Vanquis Bank uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
