Linux Senior Technical Engineer – Contract Opportunity (Inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid – Sheffield (2–3 days/week onsite)

We are working with a leading financial services client on an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Technical Engineer with strong Linux (RHEL) experience, particularly within large-scale, regulated environments. This role is instrumental in supporting infrastructure migration and sanitization efforts tied to the divestment of specific business units.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2–3 days a week onsite in Sheffield and availability for occasional weekend work to support critical migration activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Engineer and maintain automated solutions to support phased migration and secure sanitization of infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cyber security teams to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Audit software and OS versions to provide evidence to security teams and support compliance.
- Remove proprietary software, sensitive configurations, and certificates as part of infrastructure divestment.
- Work closely with product and application teams to solve technical issues including storage migrations and system integrations.
- Provide expert input into the design and continuous improvement of infrastructure processes.
- Extensive experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux in a financial or highly regulated environment.
- Strong scripting ability (Python, Shell, Puppet).
- Solid understanding of DevOps tools including Ansible, Jenkins, and Puppet.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hypervisor).
- Familiarity with VCS Infoscale clustering, and strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewall rules, port management).
- Exposure to Postman, Mulesoft, and API integrations.
- Familiarity with Git and Agile methodologies.
- Experience across non-RHEL UNIX variants (Solaris, AIX, SLES).
- Proactive mindset – able to suggest and implement improvements to systems and processes.
