We are working with a leading financial services organisation seeking an experienced Python Developer to join their technology team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for building scalable automation solutions that streamline and enhance database operations in a highly regulated enterprise environment.
The Role
As a Python Developer, you will design, build, and maintain automation and API-driven solutions that support database management, rollouts, and operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with platform, database, and DevOps teams to deliver robust, containerised services at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for database operations and rollouts
- Build and integrate APIs for database management operations and automation workflows
- Troubleshoot automation issues across scripting, APIs, and containerised environments
- Containerise and deploy applications and services using Docker and Kubernetes
- Administer Kubernetes resources including Pods, Services, Ingress, Secrets, and CRDs
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience developing APIs in Python, using FastAPI
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
- Experience working with containerised applications and cloud-native environments
- Solid understanding of automation and scalable system design
Nice to Have
- Experience improving observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
- Exposure to enterprise tools such as Control-M, TrueSight, Guardium, Tenable Nessus, or Delinea
- Knowledge of security and software development within highly regulated environments
- End-to-end experience with CI/CD pipelines (build, test, package, deploy)
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and tools (e.g. JIRA)
- Experience managing secrets with HashiCorp Vault
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL / PostgreSQL administration or MongoDB / MongoDB Atlas
