We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Project Manager to lead and deliver complex mainframe initiatives on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with z/OS environments, IBM Z tooling, and a proven track record of delivering on-time, within-scope, and within-budget projects through effective governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of mainframe projects (e.g., COBOL/CICS/DB2 modernization, batch scheduling, application migrations, containerization strategies, or performance tuning).
- Define project scope, goals, milestones, timelines, budgets, and resource plans; manage changes via a formal change control process.
- Develop and maintain project artifacts: project plan, RAID log, communications plan, status reports, and executive dashboards.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (business, IT, QA, infrastructure, vendors) and manage third-party vendors/partners.
- Ensure adherence to standards, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to mainframe environments.
- Monitor and mitigate project risks; manage issues, dependencies, and escalation paths.
