We're delighted to be recruiting a temporary Bookkeeper on behalf of a well-established SME based in Market Harborough. This standalone Bookkeeper vacancy offers the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function during a period of absence, working closely with the Managing Director and external accountants. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organisation.

£17.00 - £20.00 per hour, dependent on experience

32 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:00pm, Friday 8:30am - 1:00pm

On-site parking

Temporary contract for a minimum of 3 months

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing accounts up to trial balance
  • Processing and reconciling sales and purchase ledger transactions, including invoicing and receipt postings
  • Preparing supplier payments, completing payment runs and resolving supplier queries
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow forecasts
  • Collating payroll information for the external accountant and processing payroll journals
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns, while assisting with Corporation Tax information requirements
  • Liaising with external accountants, HMRC and other relevant authorities

Required skills and experience:

  • AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a similar Bookkeeper or bookkeeping role
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
  • Previous experience using Xero and a good working knowledge of Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to work
