Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist role based in Oldham.

The CNC Machinist will set up, programe and monitor CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Day-to-day responsibilities include selecting and installing tooling, loading programs, adjusting offsets, and performing in-process inspections to maintain tight tolerances.

The role involves interpreting technical drawings, measuring finished parts using appropriate inspection equipment, and documenting results to support quality control and FAIR processes.

The CNC Machinist will collaborate with engineers and colleagues to resolve machining issues, maintain equipment in safe working order, and contribute to continuous improvement in productivity and quality.

Qualifications

  • Strong machine operation skills, including safe setup, programming support, and monitoring of CNC machinery.
  • Hands-on machining experience, with proficiency in CNC milling for precision components.
  • Ability to perform milling operations to tight tolerances, including tool selection, offset adjustment, and process optimization.
  • Quality control capabilities, including dimensional inspection, use of measurement tools (e. g., micrometers, gauges, CMM), and documentation of results.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery in a production or engineering environment, with a focus on reliability and safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Relevant apprenticeship, vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in machining or mechanical engineering.
