Develops, implements, and manages the incident management program and operations. Acts as a point of escalation for junior peers. Global Risk and Security (GR&S) at Vanguard enables business strategy, protects client and Vanguard interests (e.g., assets and data), and stewards a strong risk culture. Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets. We are the trusted advisors that protect the pride of Vanguard with state-of-the-art security and fraud capabilities. We are a world-class destination of highly engaged, passionate, and diverse talent expected to continuously learn and develop in an ever-changing security landscape.
Core Responsibilities
- Leads the incident response team in addressing and managing the aftermath of a security breach or attack.
- Manages the resolution of the most complex security related issues elevated from staff and clients.
- Consults on the development of multi-year incident action plans and leads the implementation. Ensures the delivery of solutions in a timely manner.
- Reviews and oversees incident requests, priorities, escalation, and resolution activities. Works to ensure a balance between operational and information security needs.
- Identifies computer security requirements for new systems and/or processes under development.
- Develop security incident automation to improve the response and detections for security incidents related to third-party compromises.
- Develop detections and integrations to help identify threats to third-party platforms.
- Monitors and improves the documentation and reporting processes for incident status and results.
- Identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and procedures.
- Partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to identify and analyze vulnerabilities. Consults on incident management and mitigation.
- Represents the department in meetings with leadership and audit team. Applies results of audits and determines resolution strategy.
- Trains and coaches junior staff on incident response procedures and serves as an escalation point for inquiries and issues.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum of four years related work experience, with at least three years of information technology or security experience. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or information technology-related field or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.
