Responsibilities
- Leads the product oversight analysis, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and credibility of the index construction and underlying ESG data. Performs company research and leads engagements with third-party index and data providers, escalating issues as they arise.
- Presents on regulatory outlook, investment processes, fund features, and ESG themes to internal and external audiences; conducts and presents strategic analyses of investment product issues, leveraging cross-functional teams to inform strategic decisions.
- Guide the junior team members in handling crew and client inquiries about product attributes, positioning, or reports, and attends client meetings to present Vanguard\’s ESG offerings and investment perspectives.
- Prepares content and delivers training for crew on products, enhancing ESG investment expertise and supporting distribution, marketing, and regulatory initiatives.
- Supports the delivery of corporate and product sustainability reporting, including inputting into reporting narratives and validation of reported ESG metrics (e.g., climate, SFDR, etc).
- Supports the implementation of regulatory change projects and product governance initiative, as the ESG subject matter expert.
- Partners with the product research team to develop new ESG product ideas and provide ESG expertise during the research process. Assists in assessing the strength of Vanguard\’s product offer relative to specific business lines through analysis of strategic, competitive, client and market trends relating to Vanguard\’s ESG investment product line-up.
- Represents Vanguard\’s position on ESG matters at industry association working groups and conferences.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Professional work experience, ideally in the investment industry, with a preference for ESG experience and roles that utilize strong communication and analytical skills.
- Proven relevant industry experience either within a similar role or ESG or sustainable finance investment experience.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- CFA or IMC preferred.
- Demonstrated conceptual thinking skills and the ability to anticipate implications of decisions.
- Excellent collaboration skills to develop effective working relationships with key business stakeholders.
- Exemplary interpersonal communication skills and superior written communication skills.
- Experience using Bloomberg, Factset and Morningstar is preferred.
