Developed Markets ‘Sovereign/Supra/Agency (SSA)’ Credit Analyst supporting the Global Rates Active and Index teams. Contributes to investment decision-making and strategy through analysis and evaluation of trends in the context of economic, political, regulatory and capital markets developments.

Vanguard’s expanding European Fixed Income team is looking for an experienced analyst to support the Global Rates Fixed Income franchise. The team is responsible for the management of global aggregate, governments, and FX strategies. Based in London, the desk invests in global opportunities across fixed income, derivatives, and currencies.
As the team continues to expand, we are looking for a driven individual with keen interest in global markets and current geopolitical developments who can provide broad analyst coverage in the Developed Market SSA issuer space. You will collaborate closely with London based portfolio managers, traders, and research colleagues, to provide recommendation s for use in regular and money market funds .

This is a new role that is being created as a result of business growth, and the successful individual with also be expected to help establish and create an effective and efficient coverage model .

Core Responsibilities :

  • Support the International Rates Team by maintaining active coverage of up to 200 names within the DM non- corp Global Universe.
  • Core Role: Recommend the purchase and sale of Investment Grade Sovereign, Supranational, Agency ( SSA ) issuers
  • Assess current and projected credit quality of Investment Grade SSA issuers
  • Incorporate views on both credit fundamentals and relative value in recommendations.
  • Develop an efficient coverage policy ensuring appropriate analysis for lower and high-risk issuers.
  • M aintain an approved list of eligible investments for the Active Credit Corporates (IG) money market desk based on local securities regulations and department guidelines.
  • Provide Enhanced SSA Analysis to global index desks.
  • Contribute to strategy development in providing outlooks and actionable recommendations for investment in assigned sector (s).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio managers, investment banks, issuers, rating agencies and fellow analysts.

What it takes:

  • Extensive Developed Market SSA experience to ensure high-level expertise and coverage during periods of market stress,
  • Proven investment management and Active Credit Corporates (IG) and/or Fixed Income experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or economics or equivalent combination of training and experience required . Graduate degree / CFA preferred.
  • Analytical Abilities: The primary responsibility is ability to conduct deep-level fundamental investment analysis of developed market SSAs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis to enable efficient coverage of highly rated issuers.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with active/index desks.
