The IST Run / Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Manager, leads a talented team of engineers dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the reliability of our systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across the globe, including business stakeholders, product managers, and software engineers, to ensure our services are scalable, reliable, and performant. This role works as the lead for Europe and is part of a global operating model with teams in Australia and the United States, providing coverage for the suite of Vanguard\’s international applications across consumer facing and business to business channels. These applications are critical to the continued success of our international businesses. With a focus on resiliency, this role has an opportunity to provide strategic guidance in improving our resiliency and reliability. The team is at the forefront of providing production support services including, incident logging, incident resolution, problem management, change management practices, and SRE support. You will need to build a strong relationship with business clients, vendor partners, and IT teams here in the UK and across the globe to deliver world class service. Core Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing SRE team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. Develop and implement strategies for incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews to prevent future incidents. Work closely with business and technology teams to understand their needs and ensure alignment with reliability and uptime goals. Facilitate communication and collaboration across global teams. Drive the development and adoption of automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems. Use data-driven insights to proactively identify and address potential issues. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices in SRE. Qualifications: Proven experience in a leadership role with production support and/or software delivery responsibility Proficiency in cloud concepts, preferably AWS. Excellent communication skills, especially under pressure, and across various stakeholder types from engineers to executives Ability to foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, independent thinking and collaboration Strong focus on quality, automation, and client experience Excellent troubleshooting mindset Beneficial but not required skills: AWS certification(s) preferred, but not strictly required.
