Senior Cloud Security Engineer, Anti-Fraud Technology

Vanguard Group in Manchester, United Kingdom, is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, Anti-Fraud Technology for a 6-month hybrid role (3 days per week in Manchester).

Purpose of the role: Vanguard manages over $7 trillion in assets globally, and this role involves safeguarding client funds by developing and maintaining anti-fraud services within our cybersecurity-focused development team for Vanguard Europe.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing modern anti-fraud services across all layers of the stack, from database to front-end.
  • Writing high-quality, readable code, conducting code reviews, designing solutions, building automated tests, and documenting processes.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including scrum master, technical leads, developers, and product owners.
  • Supporting junior engineers and acting as a role model for quality and design standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement in technical standards, methodologies, and processes.
  • Managing deployment and operations across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Working with global teams in Australia and the US to share best practices.
  • Participating in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily scrums, and retrospectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with full-stack development, especially with React and TypeScript.
  • Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
  • Knowledge of Node.js, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of industry best practices, design principles (SOLID), and automated testing.
  • Excellent communication skills bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with agile and Scrum methodologies.
