Vane Hill Care Home is a pair of grand Victorian houses overlooking the harbour in Torquay, offering beautiful views across Torbay. The home provides specialist support for up to 32 residents living with mental health conditions, including Korsakoff's syndrome and Alcohol Related Brain Damage, with a strong focus on independence and wellbeing. We are looking for compassionate and reliable Bank Support Workers to support both day shifts and waking night shifts. This is a flexible, zero hours role, ideal for those looking to fit work around other commitments while making a real difference.

As a Support Worker, you will be an essential part of the care team, supporting residents to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity. You will support residents with personal care, mobility, and daily routines, encouraging independence wherever possible. You will follow individual care plans, monitor residents' wellbeing, and report any concerns to senior staff. You will promote dignity and respect at all times, encourage positive social interaction, respond promptly to call bells or emergencies, and help maintain a calm, safe, and welcoming environment. During waking night shifts, you will ensure residents feel reassured and supported throughout the night.

Responsibilities

  • Support residents with personal care, mobility, and daily routines, encouraging independence wherever possible.
  • Follow individual care plans, monitor residents' wellbeing, and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Promote dignity and respect, encourage positive social interaction, and respond promptly to call bells or emergencies.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and welcoming environment; support residents during waking night shifts as needed.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is preferred
  • Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable
  • A caring, respectful, and compassionate approach
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work both day shifts and waking night shifts
