Vane Hill is a pair of grand Victorian houses overlooking the harbour in Torquay, offering breathtaking views across Torbay. This tranquil hilltop home provides specialist support for individuals with mental health conditions, including Korsakoff’s syndrome and Alcohol-Related Brain Damage, fostering independence for up to 32 residents.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to play a key role in leading our care team, ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care, and creating a warm, supportive environment. You will coordinate shifts, lead by example, and support your team to deliver excellent care and maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the home.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Support Worker, you will lead and coordinate your team to ensure the smooth running of the home and create the right atmosphere for residents and staff. You will assist residents with personal care, including dressing, bathing, toileting, and mobility, always prioritising dignity, independence, and choice. You will oversee medication ordering, administration, and documentation, maintaining accurate records at all times. You will communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members, fostering a culture of openness, respect, and collaboration. You will respond promptly to emergencies, and maintain accurate care plans, risk assessments, and case notes that reflect residents’ needs and preferences. You will also actively participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.

What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (essential) or experienced Care Assistants working towards Level 3
  • Practical medication administration experience with competencies
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, delegate, and develop a team
  • A compassionate, caring, and person-centred approach, with a sense of fun and commitment to residents’ wellbeing
