We are currently recruiting STEM-oriented graduates recently graduated or expecting to graduate in 2026 to work within our Engineering Design, IT and Systems Integration teams based at our offices near to London Heathrow Airport. Our Graduates will gain exposure to the entire lifecycle of project delivery with the opportunity to join a wide range of projects across the Airports sector.
We are looking for individuals who are flexible, driven and not afraid to continue their learning experience; whilst keen to bring value to our customers and our business. In return, this programme will fast track you in your engineering career, with a drive towards chartered status with one of the professional institutions. Opportunities exist in Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems, SCADA, Systems Integration and IT systems design and delivery, where you'll get involved in all aspects of project engineering delivery; from supporting in the sales phase to detailed design and onto installation, commissioning, integration and transition to the customers' operations and maintenance teams. This will entail working closely as a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, project managers, planners and construction specialists to deliver excellence for our customers.
Throughout the graduate programme you will be supported by a dedicated mentor to build your professional development plan and pathway to professional accreditation, as well as an engineering buddy to support with the hands-on technical elements and help develop your network. There will also be your cohort of graduates to call on to share experiences and develop together.
Role Responsibilities
- You will gain exposure to a wide range of projects that could include:
- Hands-on engineering design and development using software tools;
- Customer site surveys, investigations and work planning;
- Set up of test environments;
- Undertaking testing and customer acceptance activities;
- Timely production of engineering deliverables (software, layouts, etc.);
- Support on site teams;
- Attend and contribute to technical and customer meetings;
- Write well-articulated engineering reports, presentations etc;
- Contribute to strong multi-disciplinary collaborative project teams;
- Comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies.
Role Qualification and Skills
- STEM degree with classification of 2:1 or higher (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) or equivalent;
- A logical thinker, curious & diligent;

Example Roles
- Electrical Project Engineer: Designs, specifies and calculates the complete electrical controls installation (including the supply and power distribution) consisting of cabinets, field wiring, cable trunking and mechanical supports for the electrical components; Designs and engineers power calculations (required max. power), cable calculations for the cable layout drawings and selectivity calculations; Designs controls drawings and produces all information necessary for manufacturers, installation managers, special design engineers, wiring contractors and purchase department; Engineers according to known procedures, rules and regulations.
- Mechanical Project Engineer: Creates the mechanical designs and layouts following the relevant safety standards and regulations using tools such as AutoCAD and Vanderlande's own Engineering Suite of Tools; performs detailed design risk assessments and Construction Design Management (CDM); Coordinates third-party equipment procurement and integration specifications; Quality control of files and data management; Producing engineering instructions.
- System Integration Engineer: Assist with the delivery of Integrated Systems that conform to an agreed scope and acceptance criteria; Support the development and execution of tests linked to the validation and acceptance of a project; Support and follow change and configuration management processes; Support and contribute to integration planning and highlighting any dependencies between key technical variables.
- Control Systems Project Engineer: Create detail PLC control systems design, based on design requirements and controls architecture. Realise PLC applications and integrate into (sub)systems based on design and standards (build and configure, generate/program); Execute commissioning & testing such as I/O, mechanical running and cabinet functionality, capacity and requirements testing; Jointly execute PLC integration, such as Area to Area, third party equipment and SCADA Engineering; Create documentation and a test and validation plan for Factory and Site Acceptance based on our Master Test Plans, for own work field and in tune with other disciplines.
- SCADA Project Engineer: Producing SCADA Controls Design and Software, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Design Safety standards; Planning and organizing SCADA and Controls Production; Project SCADA Technical Support where necessary; Ideally, knowledge or a keen interest in object oriented programming, such as C++, Visual Basic, Python, Java, C#. Knowledge in Web UI Design and preparing Graphical User Interfaces.
Please note that UK and Ireland travel will be necessary along with a valid UK driving license. Some occasional overseas travel will be required.
