The Operational Delivery Manager will work within the BOA team at Heathrow, conducting operational and technical reviews of baggage project components. The role spans the four terminals and the Baggage Control Room in Terminal 5.
Responsibilities
- Represent BOA at workshops and meetings to develop design and processes, ensuring fit‑for‑purpose solutions against baggage standards.
- Conduct operational and technical reviews of project documentation and propose solutions that meet Heathrow standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery teams to confirm safety and maintainability of proposed solutions.
- Perform operability and maintainability assessments of system and process proposals, working with delivery and O&M teams to resolve issues.
- Review and approve high‑level testing strategies and documentation to validate installed equipment.
- Track progress, review and report against plans, coordinating responses and liaising with the Senior Assurance Manager.
- Lead reviewer for documentation issued to BOA, ensuring deadlines are met and responses align with agreed SLAs.
- Create and update tracker documentation to remain accurate and up‑to‑date.
- Develop mitigation plans protecting operations during the installation phase.
- Conduct continuous improvement reviews to enhance design, build, and operation of baggage systems.
- Build effective relationships with all departments to exceed customer expectations.
- Support development of SOS, SOP, CSOS, and CSOP documentation for the operating plan.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to review complex documentation and provide objective comments.
- In‑depth knowledge of airline and baggage operational processes.
- Knowledge of complex control systems, handling or parcel systems.
- Ability to present and cascade electrical and mechanical technical designs, schematics, and system layouts to stakeholders.
- Experience working with project teams and understanding of the project management process.
- Excellent communication skills, able to interact clearly with stakeholders and peers.
- Capability to challenge project teams appropriately to balance stakeholder, operations, maintenance, and airline needs.
- High proficiency in PC applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
- Electro‑mechanical qualification preferred.
