Overview
The School of Creative Industries at Kingston College is seeking a Variable Hours Technician to provide general technical support for effective curriculum delivery across a range of art and design subjects and specialist equipment with a particular focus on 3D design and sculpture. This role will be based mainly within the Art and Design Section, although it remains part of a larger curriculum support team with a requirement to fulfil wider obligations within the School when needed. The successful candidate will work with other technicians, equipment, administrative staff, lecturers and students to ensure effective delivery of high quality part-time and full-time education to students in the School.
Responsibilities
- Maintain classrooms, studios and workshops to meet robust health and safety requirements and ensure users are familiar with the use of equipment.
- Provide technical support for exhibitions as required and assist with the planning, installation and removal of exhibitions.
- Support effective curriculum delivery across art and design subjects, with a focus on 3D design and sculpture and on specialist equipment.
- Work within the School’s wider curriculum support team when needed, including collaboration with technicians, administrative staff and lecturers.
- Remain flexible in working days and hours to meet academic year needs and term-time requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High-level skills across one or more areas of art and design.
- Ideally hold a Level 4 or above qualification in a relevant specialism.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations.
- Experience of effectively using Microsoft applications including the Adobe suite.
- Flexible working arrangements with the anticipated requirement for 3 full days, term-time, or equivalent, for the remainder of the academic year.
