Variable Hours (1-3 days a week). The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a dynamic and inspiring Vocational Skills Assessor to assess learners on a variety of programmes across the School, which may include Level 1, 2 and Level 3 in Barbering. You will undertake assessments in the College salons and other practical areas, including online testing, providing prompt and constructive feedback to candidates after the assessment and ensuring that a professional image is portrayed at all times. You will also support the teaching teams and learners to work professionally and develop and achieve commercial, employability, enterprise and work skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learners on programmes across the School, including Level 1, 2 and Level 3 in Barbering.
  • Undertake assessments in College salons and other practical areas, including online testing.
  • Provide prompt and constructive feedback to candidates after the assessment.
  • Ensure a professional image is portrayed at all times.
  • Maintain a strong client base in the Commercial salons; ensure income targets are met.
  • Support teaching teams and learners to work professionally and develop and achieve commercial, employability, enterprise and work skills.
  • Hold professional qualifications with a reputed awarding body or recognised TDLB Assessor Awards (D32, D33) or TDLB new A1 Award for Assessors (or be willing to work towards).
  • Have established recent experience within the Barbering industry, either through a professional development file (CPD) or recent salon experience as a commercial master barber.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 and 3 Barbering Qualifications.
  • Ideally hold an IV Award and Health and Safety Qualifications for work-based visits.
  • Excellent communicator with good IT skills or willingness to gain these.
