The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer in Barbering to teach courses across a range of levels and to be a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area. The courses are predominantly coursework based and therefore we seek an innovative practitioner to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures are an essential component of this work and you’ll be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses across a range of levels in Barbering and act as a personal tutor on the relevant courses.
- Design engaging coursework assignments that align with schemes of work and assessment schedules.
- Monitor student progress and participate in internal verification activities and external verification as required.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education, supporting, motivating and empathising with learners.
- Use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning and maintain high personal standards, planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills.
- Work effectively as an individual and as part of a team to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 qualification in barbering including face shaving and massage services with recent barbering industry experience.
- Teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and excellent teaching skills in Barbering.
- Ability to support, motivate and empathise with young learners, including monitoring progress.
