Responsibilities

  • Communicate with your team daily and ensure activities/updates are clear.
  • Ensure your team is cross‑functional over all processes.
  • Enforce HS & E of your team and promote communication feedback.
  • Provide cover for other teams / other Team Leaders during periods of absence, holiday, etc.
  • Operate fork‑trucks and overhead cranes to maintain supply of raw materials to fulfil relevant orders.
  • Ensure your team is developed and qualified to conduct their work.
  • Assist the operations office team with any queries etc.
  • Follow workday system processes.
  • Maintain housekeeping / 5’s standards & conduct 5s Audits in your area to ensure a clean and safe working environment, and provide feedback and solutions.
  • Assist in training new starters / apprentices, and ensure all training documentation is completed and entered in to the training matrix.
  • Ensure effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management in your area (scanned ID, storage, location, packing).
  • Ensure health, safety & welfare of your team/area, PPE, equipment and environment.
  • Accountability for your own safety and the safety around you, and not interfering with health & safety implemented by the company in and around the workplace.
  • Perform daily checks on all handling equipment (fork‑trucks, overhead cranes, saws, slings, shunt unit) and Escalate to management any findings and propose solutions.
  • Be a key holder and ensure buildings are opened, secured, locked up and alarmed.
  • Take ownership while reporting any issues to your manager.
  • Plan and coordinate, in conjunction with the other Team Leaders as required, to ensure demand is maintained and the output is achieved while escalating any potential roadblocks with solutions.
  • Maintain relevant paperwork for traceability purposes.
  • Strive to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Carry out random quality checks.
  • Liaise with all equipment service contractors regarding breakdown on saws, forklifts, overhead cranes and slings.
  • Prioritise health and safety.
