Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Stirling, Scotland, FK7 7SN

We have exciting opportunities for Geotechnical Engineers to join the UK’s largest and most diverse geotechnical and ground engineering contractor.

The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and a fantastic opportunity to begin your career alongside the support offered from our vastly experienced team.

What you\’ll be doing:

  • Gather geotechnical and geoenvironmental data from a wide range of work environments across the UK.
  • Undertake geotechnical analytical work, from planning, execution and reporting of Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical site investigations
  • Managing geotechnical project data to drive project deliverables.
  • Managing field activities including assessment and analysis of geotechnical conditions and investigations
  • Leading the process between design/client/laboratory for laboratory testing programmes for soil and rock samples
  • Preparing and reviewing, analysing and interpreting geotechnical data
  • Assist with report writing and technical notes
  • Undertake Research & Development projects including developing innovative engineering tools and solutions
  • Implement operational quality control measures and quality assurance processes
  • Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for Health and Safety
  • Attend regular meetings with internal and external parties
  • Undertake soil and groundwater risk assessments, liaising with clients
  • Working collaboratively with engineers and others to deliver quality reports
  • Reflect and promote Van Elle company values through your work and conduct

Who we\’re looking for:

  • A minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) in Geology, Civil Engineering or related subject
  • Previous practical ground investigation or relevant construction experience
  • In depth knowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930
  • Experience with geotechnical data management software packages (Openground/Holebase/Gint/Pebble Geo)
  • IT competent in Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Effective planning and organisation skills
  • A structured approach to problem solving
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Awareness of the relevant legal and safety regulations
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Microsoft Visio [preferable]
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS survey equipment
  • Experience driving larger vehicles such as 4x4s and vans [preferable]

Other Requirements:

  • Eligible to work and live in the UK.
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK.
  • A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK
  • Valid CSCS

  • Hours of work are 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday however flexibility is required
