The Role As a Senior Combat System Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering operationally effective naval combat systems and supporting the Royal Navy’s Strike Net programme.
Day-to-day, you’ll work within a team of Combat System Engineers to plan and execute integration, test, evaluation, and acceptance activities, ensuring that complex maritime systems meet operational requirements. You will also support the development of a Design Authority, conduct sea trials, and produce the evidence required for safe system integration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct subordinate CSEs on technical matters related to Strike Net development
- Engage with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to understand requirements
- Produce test plans, execute trials and conduct post-trial analysis
- Generate technical documentation including Supporting Evidence for Certificates of Safe Integration
- Deliver progress reports to senior technical and project staff
- Conduct sea trials on Royal Navy ships
Essential Experience
- Experience in maritime combat systems and system-of-systems technology
- Proven track record in integration, test and evaluation of complex systems
- Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers in technical tasks
- Experience in producing technical artefacts for operational approval
- Awareness of Test & Evaluation or Integration processes
- Ability to work with military and civilian teams in a collaborative environment
Essential Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics, or similar
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or willingness to work towards
- HNC/D level qualification may be accepted with appropriate experience
