The Role
As a Commercial Portfolio Lead, you will provide commercial leadership and oversight to areas of the business that transcend across Maritime and Land, Communications and Information, Air and Space or International projects.
Responsibilities
- Working with a team of commercial staff within a portfolio area of the business.
- Design and implement a commercial engagement strategy for the portfolio which interacts with the portfolio and business strategy. This includes a development plan for people, processes and tools within commercial as related to the portfolio.
- Maximising the efficiency and focus of the commercial resource available in relation to the demand signal.
- As a portfolio leader you will be at the forefront of transformation, offering thought leadership and hands on management of department or functional improvement initiatives.
- You will lead on key / strategic relationships inside and outside the business.
- You will foster excellent commercial to commercial interfaces with peers within our key customer / stakeholder groups and operate as a point of escalation for portfolio business when needed.
- Accountable for commercial governance on proposals and contracts which may be non‑standard, of medium to high complexity.
- Where necessary, you will lead on major changes, or strategic captures within your portfolio, and work flexibly across boundaries to offer support to other portfolios and business units with their new business challenges on an ad‑hoc basis.
Essential Experience
- Experience driving pricing strategy (pay, performance and incentivisation) in contract.
- Is able to lead and influence decision making on business budgets and financial objectives.
- Uses and mentors others on expert drafting skills and methods across a range of contracts.
- Experience shaping negotiation strategies and where necessary, delivers valuable and complex negotiations, influencing senior stakeholders, for mutual benefit.
- A thought leader, able to inspire and implement new ways of working, creating an open environment in which challenge and change are welcome.
- An accountable self‑starter, a role model for personal accountability and responsibility and leads others to be accountable for their own actions within the portfolio.
Qualifications
