Job Purpose

Responsible for leading and supporting Operations & projects related to Business Enterprise Application Best Practices, solution architecture planning, functional change governance, production support, enhancement of processes, integration of new business practices or acquisitions in your area of responsibility. Works with business partners to understand their needs / requirements for new / changed functionality. Identifies and presents new functionalities that can improve business efficiencies and cost savings. Provides design and delivery in the analysis, documentation and configuration of processes. Applies knowledge in Business Enterprise Application technology (ERP, S/4 SAP, Cloud Applications, Open Source, configuration), regression and integration testing and day‑to‑day support defining the best change and release management processes. Provides knowledge and learning for processes, system enhancements and any new systems functionality. Assists with the development of policy and procedures, configuration item data base and testing of new functionality as requested by the business. Coordinates with IT colleagues on continuous improvement or cross‑functional teams or business subject matter experts.

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

  • Provides guidance and delivery in‑solution architecture and Best Practices within area of responsibility for Business Enterprise Application systems related to:
  • Business Functionality Roadmap - senior governance Legacy ERP systems (SAP ECC), SAP S/4, Interface protocols, SAP Cloud Platform, and leveraging of open source technologies.
  • Architectural Design: Define and implement scalable SAP ABAP solutions aligned with business and IT strategies.
  • Development Leadership: Lead the design, coding, testing, and deployment of custom SAP applications using ABAP, Fiori, and UI5.
  • Integration Expertise: Develop and manage integrations using RFC, BAPI, IDoc, and OData services across SAP and non‑SAP systems.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct performance tuning and ensure compliance with SAP best practices.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with functional teams, business analysts, and project managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and reusable components.
  • Lead learning and education knowledge transfer for other team members.
  • Assist business partners with auditing activities by providing data, reports, or other information to satisfy auditor requests.

Works with business partners on larger projects to improve process issues or meet new business requirements while maintaining an SAP best practice approach to reduce custom code. You should be able to take requests from or provide system / process improvement ideas to any business partners. Perform analysis on KPI’s. Do functional and/or technical design and estimate solution for implementation while coordinating with technical / development resources. Charter project and send through governance to obtain project resources and establish timing. Perform SYSTEMs road mapping business and IT alignment. Improve Testing processes and tooling with migration to automation and speed. Coordinate or assist with data process education. Propose solutions that maximize ROI on ERP systems and tools into production system. Support business partners during hyper care immediately after go‑live of new functionality. Transition new functionality/process to support. Works with business partners on opportunity assessment / proof of concept investigations as a key input into future business optimization projects. Acts as a thought leader for subjects in your area of responsibility. This will include guidance of internal resources or consultants to deliver a final solution to business partners based on business requirements. It will also involve supporting the business partner leads. Maintains relationships with key business partner & IT stakeholders. Works with IT colleagues to ensure best practices are followed for system utilization, security, compliance, change management and release management. Collaborate internally with other team members on continuous improvement and/or on cross‑functional teams. Coach other team members. Participates in external emerging technology user groups, software vendor education, industry groups. Ensure alignment to current and next generation emerging technologies. Production support for SAP Finance functional area. Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of business and/or IT experience required.
  • Preferred 10+ years of Enterprise Business process design and implementation.
  • Preferred 8+ years of SAP next generation technologies (SAP Cloud Platform, S/4, HANA).
  • Preferred 10+ years of SAP specific implementation experience.
  • Preferred 4+ years integration experience with other process areas.
  • Experience in multiple, full lifecycle SAP implementations preferred.
  • Experience in SAP best practice solutions (financials, supply chain, process manufacturing and human resources).

Expert‑level proficiency in ABAP, OOPs, SAP Scripts, Smart Forms, and Enhancement Techniques. Strong experience with SAP HANA, Fiori, UI5, and SAP Gateway. Familiarity with Web Dynpro, BAPI, RFC, and IDoc frameworks. Hands‑on experience with S/4HANA implementations and migrations. Knowledge of SAP NetWeaver, ABAP Workbench, and Data Dictionary tools.

SAP S/4

Knowledge of implementing full cycle of SAP S/4. Understand the key differences between SAP ERP and S/4. Knowledge of SAP Activate implementation methodology. Understand leveraging conversion tools SAP solution manager, Process Mapping, Interface Mapping, ELT tools. SAP Simple Finance, Simple Manufacturing, Simple Logistics. Knowledge of SAP Central Finance (Implementation of SAP S/4 Financials and Shared Services with SAP ECC logistics).

SAP Front End Technologies

Knowledge of SAP Fiori and UI5. SAP SDK for Fiori, SAP Build and Prototyping tools. Knowledge of SAP Microsoft Office Integration (Analysis Office, Excel Integration and other).
