Procurement & Tender Consultant (Remote)

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience) Value Match is seeking to appoint a Procurement & Tender Evaluation Consultant to join our growing Supplier Services Team on a permanent basis.

This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work from home whilst supporting clients across the country.

There maybe a small element of travel involved but this will be a predominately home-based role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, delivering evaluation, bid review and compliance work and getting involved in wider procurement projects whilst developing effective supplier relationships.

You will play a key role in supporting our public sector clients by providing procurement advice, supporting on large complex evaluation processes, managing and reviewing supplier bids, whilst supporting our retained suppliers and supporting growth of the wider Supplier Services offering.

Our Supplier Services Team is two strong at present with this being a third role, but we are part of an established procurement team of 15 with a strong focus on ethical, sustainable and socially responsible procurement, you will work across a diverse range of categories and projects supporting suppliers to bid smarter.

The Role As a Procurement & Tender Evaluation Consultant, you will support the delivery of compliant, transparent, and value-driven procurement activities across a range of projects.

The role is focused on managing tender evaluation processes, reviewing supplier submissions, facilitating evaluation panels, and ensuring procurement exercises are conducted in line with organisational policies, public sector regulations, and best practice.

You will work closely with stakeholders (internal and external), you will provide procurement expertise, support supplier selection and contract award decisions, identify opportunities for improved value and efficiency, and help maintain robust governance, auditability, and fairness throughout the procurement lifecycle.

You will also engage regularly with suppliers, supporting supplier onboarding activities, maintaining effective supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to review, interpret, and assess complex tender documentation, specifications, and evaluation criteria.
• Strong understanding of bid governance, risk assessment, and compliance requirements.
• Experience developing bid strategies to support suppliers with their approach to tendering in different markets.
• Ability to analyse scoring methodologies and identify key win themes and differentiators.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide commercial procurement advice and guidance to stakeholders, supporting business objectives and value-for-money outcomes.
• Support customers in developing procurement strategies and sourcing approaches.
• Conduct supplier engagement, market research and supplier onboarding activities.
• Ensure procurement activity is compliant with relevant legislation, regulations and organisational policies.
• Identify opportunities to embed social value, sustainability and responsible procurement practices.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and customers to manage competing priorities and deliver successful outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share procurement best practice across the organisation.
• Skills & Experience We would be keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
• A minimum of 3 years' procurement experience.
• CIPS qualification (or working towards) or equivalent procurement experience.
• Experience of supporting procurement activities within a public sector environment alongside a good understanding of public sector procurement legislation, frameworks and best practice.
• Proven experience in bid management, tendering, or proposal management.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to project manage and coordinate bid submissions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and operational teams.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage confidently at all levels demonstrating a passion for procurement.
• Experience facilitating bid review meetings, storyboarding sessions, and tender workshops.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tender submissions and competing deadlines, bid plans and governance checkpoints.
• Strong planning, organisation, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide commercially focused advice and recommendations to stakeholders.
• A highly motivated, proactive individual who is willing to get stuck in, work collaboratively, and effectively balance multiple competing demands while meeting deadlines.
• Knowledge of social value and how procurement can be used to achieve wider organisational objectives.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate opportunities and make informed bid/no-bid recommendations.
• A good grasp of MS Office package would be a great advantage.
