About the Role

We are seeking a committed and supportive KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Wigan. In this role, you will support pupils in Key Stage 2, helping them to develop core skills, stay engaged in learning and prepare for the transition to secondary education within a positive and structured environment.
KS2 Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils in KS2 through whole-class, small group and 1:1 support.
- Assisting the class teacher with lessons, resources and classroom organisation.
- Supporting learning in English, maths and wider curriculum subjects.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and classroom routines.
- Supporting pupils with additional needs and adapting tasks to meet individual learning requirements.
- Encouraging independence, resilience and positive learning attitudes.
- Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times.
What We're Looking For
Must-have:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children in Key Stage 2 or a similar primary setting.
- A calm, patient and supportive approach to learning.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting SEND or intervention groups.
- Experience working with upper KS2 pupils.
- Ability to adapt support to different learning abilities and classroom expectations.
