A supportive secondary school in Prestwich is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to join their team from September. This is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity supporting students across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to secure a permanent school contract. You’ll join an established pastoral and SEN team and play a key role in helping young people re‑engage with education, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
- You will support students who require additional social, emotional and mental health support, both in and out of the classroom.
- Many of the pupils you will work with are capable learners who benefit from additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.
- Success in this role comes from building trust, providing consistency and becoming a positive role model for young people who need it most.
Key responsibilities include
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group SEMH support
- Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
- Helping students overcome barriers to education
- Working alongside teaching, SEN and pastoral teams to support progress
- Encouraging confidence, resilience and positive outcomes
