Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We are seeking caring, patient and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Mainstream Settings across the Tameside area. These full-time, long-term roles start in September, with many offering the potential for permanent contracts to the right candidates.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Care Workers or graduates looking to develop a rewarding career in education.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils with additional needs within a mainstream classroom setting.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils individually throughout the school day.
- Working with children who may have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, learning difficulties or other additional needs.
- Helping pupils access learning and fully engage in lessons.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborating closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to implement tailored support strategies.
- Encouraging pupils' independence, confidence and social development.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applicants who have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in schools, care, youth work or similar settings.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- A flexible and proactive attitude.
- A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
