We are hiring a Financial Crime Assistant to join our second line Risk & Compliance team. This role offers a dynamic environment for a motivated individual looking to grow within the field of Financial Crime and Compliance, helping ensure the organisations long term stability and compliance.
The Financial Crime Assistant will report to the Deputy MLRO & Financial Crime Manager and supports the companys efforts in preventing, detecting and managing financial crimes such as money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, bribery and corruption.
Working closely with the Compliance team, the assistant will help ensure the organisation complies with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
Due to nature of the firm, we expect the successful candidate to be have a keen eye for detail, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to work well with sensitive information whilst maintaining confidentiality., * Assist in reviewing and analysing suspicious activities and transactions flagged by monitoring systems.

Support in the investigation of potential financial crimes, such as fraud, money laundering or sanctions breaches, and prepare initial reports on suspicious activities and escalate cases to senior team members when required.

Support the Financial Crime Manager with customer due diligence and KYC (know your customer) through the use of the SmartSearch technology system.

Gather and verify identification documents and other relevant information, helping to maintain up to date customer profiles and risk assessments.

Maintain accurate records of investigations, audits and compliance reviews and assist in preparing management information reports for the Risk & Compliance Committee & Board, as requested.

Help monitor regular updates and ensure the organisation adheres to current financial crime regulations, and assist in responding to regulatory requests, audits, due diligence requests and external reviews.

Assist in the development and review of internal policies and procedures related to financial crime prevention.

A background in the financial services industry and the understanding of financial crime regulations and frameworks, including AML, Sanctions and anti-bribery law.

Experience in financial crime, compliance, audit, or risk management is desirable.

Experience working with risk, KYC, AML systems or monitoring tools is an added advantage.

A certification in financial crime compliance is an advantage.

Ability to analyse and interpret financial data, identify patterns and detect anomalies.

Proficient in conducting research on customers, transactions and regulatory matters.

Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Self-driven and comfortable with taking own initiative on a regular basis.

Confident and strong communicator able to interact and collaborate with colleagues throughout the organisation.
